"Bounce Gallery" event @ Basement Two Nine + 7" vinyl news...

"Art As A Lifestyle" @ Basement Two Nine (Brooklyn, NY)

"Art As A Lifestyle" @ Basement Two Nine (Brooklyn, NY)

Hello again, it's Mo from Mr. Mo Records. Got a couple updates to share with you as we transition into the fall season. As you may or may not know, myself and fellow artists Na'Cir Jahmill & J. Scott Vinson have a collaborative living / event / studio space called Basement Two Nine in Brooklyn in which we are using as a space to host events & recording sessions. The last event, "Art As A Lifestyle" (pictured above) was the first offical event outside of a couple spur of the moment BBQ's for us, and we'd like to thank everyone who has come by to support the space and events so far.

We'll be hosting the next event this Saturday, October 1st in collaboration with LIKE THAT RECS for the latest installment of their "Bounce Gallery" parties. Featured on the lineup are a group of artists and DJ's from NYC, New Jersey, Atlanta, and Philly that are making noise in various scenes including Bounce, Club, Vogue, Rap, and genre defying corners of Electronic music. Come with open minds, open ears, and comfortable shoes for the dance floor.

RSVP for the event here:

And finally...I'm excited to announce that we have started the pressing process for next 7" vinyl release. Moving from one coast to the other along with securing a solid space to live and create can definitely put a financial delay on things, but things are once again back in motion. Expect a super solid release from artists residing in the Bronx and LA who represent the next generation of footwork music towards the end of this year.

As always, we'll continue to keep you updated with what's going on in our world. Thank you again for your continued support! - Mo

"Back" event in Toronto, ON + Swim Up Bar live mix feature + more...

Hope your summer is rounding out nicely, it's Mo from Mr. Mo Records. Just wanted to share a couple quick updates, especially if you're in the Toronto area this weekend.

This Saturday (August 20th) in Toronto, I'll be the guest DJ for the evening at Lucky Shrike bar, alongside good friend, visual artist, and DJ, Jenny Laiwint. The venue has a feeling reminiscent of what the original Do Over location (Crane's Tavern) used to be, so come through if you are in the area. Party starts at 10pm & goes on until about 3am.

Big thanks to Swim Up Bar for allowing me to drop a guest set for their live mix series. This was shot at the beginning of the year & is an unrehearsed set similar to how I'd play out on the fly, and less like a routine (including trying to figure out the mixer for the first 10 mins). It's basically like a Boiler Room set, but my own version...the Moi-ler Room, haha. You can catch the full set at, and can check out a brief snippet from the label Instagram here. Big thanks to for featuring the mix on their website.

Lastly (without getting into too much detail), there is another 7" vinyl release featuring two very talented artists in the works that is scheduled to be released by the end of the year, as well as an edits/remixes EP beforehand. Despite delays & unforseen challenges, music is still very much on its way. As always, we will definitely keep you posted.

Hope all is well, it's Mo with another update from Mr. Mo Records. In this update we've got a new mix, some big news, people to honor, and a preview of some things in the works at our new studio space in Brooklyn.

First off, big thanks to Go Down Baby (NYC) & MARVELiTO (Hot Action/Scratch DJ Academy) for having me do a guest set for their mix series. Click on the artwork on at the very top of the email or jump down below to the Soundcloud player to listen.

Things are continuing to pick up with the Hiatus Kaiyote "Fingerprints" edit, as I got word from a DJ friend of mine based in Austin, TX (DJ Ash) that Soulection Radio on Beats1 Radio had featured the edit on their 5 year anniversary episode (#249) and the following episode after that. Big thanks to Joe Kay & the Soulection crew for the feature!

Outside of the edit & mixes, a new studio space is in the process of coming together with good friend and fellow group mate, Na'Cir Jahmill. Na'Cir Jahmill and I (Mo Serious) are MelloMadness, and are in the process of creating new music to share with you all. Here's a brief clip from Instagram to document our humble beginnings & share a small taste of what's to come.

Last but not least, I wanted to honor a couple of people who have had a big influence in my life that have recently passed. Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest is a key artist in some of my earliest exposure to Hip-Hop outside of what I knew on local radio, and ultimately was a big influence in opening my ears, heart, and mind to Hip-Hop culture. A true original, he will always be dearly missed. Joe Muniz, aka Poppin Joe was a long-time friend, ill popper, beam of light, and cornerstone of the Hip-Hop community in El Paso, TX. On a personal note, had it not been for him & how he redirected my path early on roughly 10 years ago, none of what I've been blessed to be a part of in music over the following years would have come to fruition. His spirit and love will continue to live on through those who knew and loved him. Below is a clip from a session of Joe with El Paso popper Jonathan Ley. Love and miss you Joe.

That's all for now. Thank you again for your continued support! - Mo

Happy late New Year everyone, it's Mo again with another update from Mr. Mo Records. In continuing with our monthly remix/edit series, we'd like to share with you the latest edit: a Latin house classic from 1994 by C + C Music Factory.

Back when I was in grade school, I fondly remember hearing the original, almost 9 minute version (featured in the video above, courtesy of YouTube user MBMANALOG) frequently on the radio growing up in El Paso, Texas. Any song that would get a full 9 minute spin on the radio had to be doing something right, and was a big hit locally & globally in the mid-nineties. Got me plenty hyped as a kid. The original track still works well at a party today, as I found out at a private event during the summer of 2015. Latinos del mundo...ya tu' sabes!

Below is the Mo Serious edit of "Robi Rob's Boriqua Anthem" & is the third release in a monthly series of edits and remixes leading up to a compilation release in 2016. Stream and download the edit below on Soundcloud:

Happy December everyone, it's Mo again with another update from Mr. Mo Records. Before moving along any further, I want to give a huge shoutout to those of you who are new to the mailing list, most likely due to the support for our most recent edit of Hiatus Kaiyote's "Fingerprints". The response has been nothing short of amazing with spins from KCRW's own Anthony Valadez & Aaron Byrd, and an awesome review from Okayplayer. All are full circle moments that are beyond appreciated, so many-many thanks to those who've made it all possible.

For those of you who are unfamiliar, Body Language is an electro-dance quartet based in Brooklyn. Their second track off of their 2011 EP, "Social Studies" is a certified dance floor burner called "Falling Out". Check out their live performance music video of the original below:

A remix contest with access to the stems was released back in 2011, so this particular remix had been sitting around in a mostly finished state since 2012...until now. Here is the Mo Serious remix of "Falling Out" & is the second release in a monthly series of edits and remixes leading up to a compilation release in early 2016. Stream and download the edit below on Soundcloud:

- Mixed by Mikey Poz at Beatsmith Studios (Hollywood, CA).
- Mastered by John Webber at AIR Studios Mastering (London, UK).

Lastly if you are in the NYC area, join us this Saturday night at The Bishop Gallery for an evening of talent & various crafts in a dope art gallery setting. The last of the last copies of our limited 7" vinyl release will be on hand for $7. Event goes from 7pm-12am, and many thanks to DJ Tillery James (Art-A-Funk) for the opportunity to celebrate & rock with everyone on the lineup.

That's all for now. Be on the lookout for an end of 2015 episode of "Nighttime Maneuvers" coming at the end of this month. Until next time, happy holidays!

- Mo
